Empowering Communities: RDSAC’s Self-Help Group in Kigorobya

At RDSAC, we believe in empowering our members to achieve self-sustainability while also supporting those living with Down syndrome. Our recent visit to the Self-Help Group in Kigorobya marked a significant milestone in this journey, as we witnessed firsthand the impact of our latest initiative—a poultry project that is already yielding promising results.

With the support of a generous grant worth UGX 5 million from the Government of Uganda, our members have successfully established a poultry farm, currently home to 91 birds that are soon to start laying eggs. This initiative, spearheaded by our dedicated Volunteer Projects Coordinator, Dr. Martin Atwebembire, is designed to provide a sustainable source of income for our members while ensuring continuous support for individuals with Down syndrome within our community.

By equipping our members with the necessary resources and knowledge to run income-generating activities, we are fostering a culture of self-reliance. The poultry project is not just about financial independence; it is a testament to the strength and resilience of our community, demonstrating how collective efforts can create lasting change.

As we continue to support and expand such initiatives, we remain committed to enhancing the quality of life for all our members. We extend our gratitude to the Government of Uganda for their invaluable support and to Dr. Martin Atwebembire for his leadership in making this project a reality. Together, we are building a brighter and more sustainable future for our community.
