On March 21st, 2025, Buliisa Town was filled with joy, color, and purpose as we celebrated World Down Syndrome Day under the empowering theme:
“Improve Our Support Systems.”

The celebration, organized by Rowan’s Down Syndrome Awareness Center (RDSAC), was a huge success and marked a major milestone in our efforts to raise awareness, promote inclusion, and strengthen support systems for individuals with Down Syndrome in the Bunyoro sub-region.

Having actively engaged communities in Hoima, Hoima City, Masindi, Buliisa, and Kikuube over the past four years, this year’s focus on Buliisa District brought new energy and deeper community involvement. We were thrilled to connect with our 26 registered members in Buliisa and welcome hundreds more to participate in the event.

🎉 Highlights of the Celebration Included:

• Pre-event community outreachand sensitization sessions
• Training programs to enhance awareness and capacity for inclusion
• Free health assessments for children with Down Syndrome
• A colorful awareness march through Buliisa Town
• An inspiring exhibition that showcased the unique talents and abilities of persons with Down Syndrome

These activities brought together families, community leaders, health workers, local government officials, and the general public in a collective effort to build stronger support systems for individuals living with Down Syndrome.
